The Wastell Home is one of our signature buildings in Telegraph Cove with a rich history. Originally built on a craggy bluff high above Johnstone Strait around 1912, it served as housing for the telegraph linemen. The house later became the home of Fred and Emma Wastell who lived there for almost 50 years. With the birth of their daughters Bea & Pat more space was needed and Fred raised the bottom storey and added another floor. This truly remarkable home received several upgrades and renovations including a sunroom overlooking the Cove.
If you like history, step back in time and stay at the Wastell Manor, a beautifully decorated five-bedroom hotel. The décor reflects the era in which it was built. Each room is unique and cozy with duvets on the beds and antique furnishings. The guests have access to the old dining room (where facilities for making coffee/tea are available as well as a small fridge), a living room, and a gorgeous sun room with spectacular ocean views. There are no cooking facilities, but the Killer Whale Café and the Old Saltery Pub are only a stone’s throw away. Because each room is unique and offers different sleeping accommodations, they are separately priced.
